History
In 1949, the Junior Delphian Club collected 350 donated
books and established a library in an upstairs room of city hall.
City hall was remodeled in 1951, and the library moved to a room
at the fire station. This same year the city council began contributing
financial support to the library.
In 1969, the library relocated to the building at
213 North Madison. This building was built in 1924 and served as
the post office until 1969.
In 2000, the building was remodeled to comply with
ADA requirements. An elevator and new handicap ramps were added
at this time. A major emphasis was the conversion of the basement
from the local history museum to a modern, attractive children's
department complete with a fairy tale mural and a puppet theatre.
