Get ready for fun at the library!  Summer Fun programs and activities at the library begin June 17 and continue throughout the months of June, July and August.  Registration begins June 03, and all participants must have a valid library card at this library.  Scroll down for membership options.

Reading Clubs

Read to Me
A club for little ones not yet reading.  A parent or older sibling reads to the child.  Read at least 5 hours each week to enter a prize drawing. One prize will be awarded each week for 6 weeks. 

Dig Into Reading (Independent Readers)
Independent readers, kindergarten through age 12/ 6th grade read at least 5 hours a week to earn freebies from local restaurants and to enter weekly prize drawings.  One prize will be awarded each week for six weeks. Local buisnesses provide freebies for this program and supplies are limited.

Beneath the Surface(Teens)
Teens ages 13-17 years read from pre-selected categories to enter weekly prize drawings. One prize will be awarded each week.

Groundbreaking Reads (Adults)
Adults and older teens read from pre-selected categories each week to enter a grand prize drawing to be held at the end of the program.

Programs & Events

Summer Fun Kick-Off Celebration
(June 17)
Kick-off Summer Fun with special activities, prizes, & crafts and a visit from Korn Pop the Clown. Activities from 9-12 and 2-5.  Clown will be visiting throughout the library from 1-4.

Make & Take Crafts for Kids
Drop by the library on Wednesdays this summer for crafting fun!  Pre-packaged craft kits will be available from 9-12 in the morning, and 2-5 in the afternoon in the children's area.

Make & Take Crafts for Teens
Crafts just for teens will be available each Thursday from 9-12 in the morning and 2-5 in the afternoon in the teen room.

Cowhands and Cattle Drives Program at Dellwood Park (July 11-12, times  to be announced)
Travel back in time to Texas in 1880 and experience life on the trail as a cowhand. Join Cookie, the Trail Boss, and other cowhands around the chuck wagon for an up-close look at a Texas Trail Drive. Program is best suited for independent readers.

Swimming Party (August 09 from 7-9 p.m.)
Cool off at Dellwood Pool during the library's swimming party  for registered Summer Fun participants.

Random Acts of Fun
Keep an eye on the library's calendar and facebook page- you won't want to miss our "Random Acts of Fun" postings. Every week or so during the summer, we'll post a random activity- because you can't have too much fun!  Activities may include bubbles in the garden, free snowcones or popcorn, Wii games, Lego Block Parties, and more.

Family Fun Programs
The library's family programs are loaded with books, games, activities, crafts, music and more, and offers fun for the entire family. Most programs are held after-hours  at the library. Please note that the library will not be open to the public during Super Saturday programs; only active participants will be allowed inside the building. Check-outs and computers will NOT be available.

Brave Knights & Fair Maidens (June 22 at 2 p.m.)
Calling all knight and princess wannabees! Choose your path, then learn the skills you'll need to become a card -carrying knight or princess. Program is best suited for younger children, ages 4-8.
  Aliens Among Us (June 29 at 2 p.m.)
Help Wanted: Scientists! The aliens have landed and they came to the library for help in learning about our planet and culture. Become a scientist as you travel throughout the library searching for needed information. Bilingual not required, as participants will build their own translator bracelets in order to understand the aliens. Program is best suited for older kids, ages 8-12.
  Hank the Cowdog (July 06 at 2 p.m.)
If you enjoy reading the adventures of Hank the Cowdog, this is the program for you! Enjoy games, crafts, music and snacks from the book series. A mystery character from the books will be our special guest.
  Enchanted Forest (July 27 at 2 p.m.)
Explore the world of fantastical creatures-  fairies, elves, gnomes,etc., with books, games, and crafts. We'll begin to build homes for your favorite creature. Bring your creation back on Monday to enter the Fantasy HomeContest. Entries will be displayed at the library, and patrons will vote to choose the winner.
  Across the Universe (August 03- Evening Program begins at 7 p.m.)
Sky stories, space art, and an inflatable planetuarium add up to an out-of- this world program for kids and families. Program is for older children, ages 8-12, as we'll be using spray paint!
  Back to School Party (August 17- Evening Program begins at 7 p.m.)
Enjoy one last party before school starts again!  Activities include customizing your school supplies, music, snacks, and more.

A valid MPPL card is your ticket to Summer Fun, and is required to participate in Summer Fun Reading Clubs.The card must be presented each time a child checks out  books or other materials,  redeems a time card, enters a prize drawing, attends a program, or uses a computer.  Valid cards have current information (address/phone) and are free of fees and fines.
Options are available for kids and families who live outside of Titus County and would like to participate.

 In-county residents may apply for a FREE card. If the original card is lost,  a replacement card/key tag set may be purchased for $5. Replacement cards have no expiration date and may be used year round.  As an alternative, a temporary card may be purchased for $2, and expires at the end of the program.
Anyone living outside of Titus County may choose to purchase an Out-of-County card for $20.  OC cards are valid for one  year and include borrowing privileges, program participation, etc. for the person to whom the card is issued. 
 Visitor Pass Any child or adult who does not have a card may attend a single program, other than the Reading Club or Swimming Party, by purchasing a visitor pass for $2.
TexShare Cards TexShare cards are not accepted for Summer Fun programs. Each child participating in Summer Programs must have an out-of-county card in his/her own name, or purchase a visitor pass to attend each program.
