Summer Fun programs are held each summer at the library, and activities are posted in May.  See below to get an idea of what Summer Fun is all about, then check back in May to see the new schedule!

Reading Clubs

  Read to Me
A club for little ones not yet reading. A parent or older sibling reads to the child. Read at least 4 hours each week to enter a prize drawing. One prize will be awarded each week.
Super Reader Club
Independent readers, kindergarten through age 12/ 6th grade read at least 4 hours a week to earn freebies from local restaurants and to enter weekly prize drawings. Two prizes will be awarded each week. Local buisnesses provide freebies for this program and supplies are limited.
   Teen Read Club
   Teens ages 13-17 years read and attend programs to enter weekly prize drawings. One prize will be awarded each week.

There's something for everyone at the library!  Please choose programs from the appropriate age group.
 Story Time
Join Ms. Natalie for stories, crafts, and games chosen especially for preschoolers.  An adult must remain in the area with the child.
 Read & Play
Read, play and learn with books, games, sensory bins, and more! Read & Play is a new drop-in program designed for busy families.Themes change each week, and are activities are available from 10 a.m. til 5:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday. Themes include Skippyjon Jones, Elephant & Piggie, Mouse books by Ellen Stoll Walsh, and books by Eric Carle.
Read & More
Read....and so much more! Scavenger hunts, games, crafts, and other activities for older kids focus on popular book series. Themes change each week and activities are available from 10 a.m. til 5:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday. Themes include Minecraft, Wimpy Kid, Origami Yoda, Percy Jackson, and more.
Super Science
Explore science concepts through hands-on experiments and demonstrations. Program begins at 3 pm on Thursdays, June 29 thru July 16.
Random Acts of Fun
Keep an eye on the library's calendar and facebook page- you won't want to miss our "Random Acts of Fun" postings. Every week or so during the summer, we'll post a random activity- because you can't have too much fun! Activities may include bubbles in the garden, free snowcones or popcorn, Wii games, Lego Block Parties, and more.

Family Fun Programs
The library's family programs are loaded with books, games, activities, crafts, music and more, and offers fun for the entire family. Some programs are held after-hours  at the library. Please note that the library will not be open to the public during these programs and events; only active participants will be allowed inside the building. Check-outs and computers will NOT be available.
Summer Fun Kick-Off Celebration (June 15)
Kick-off Summer Fun with special activities, prizes, & crafts and a visit from Korn Pop the Clown. Start your summer off with an BANG! POW! POP! with our first weekly theme of Super Heroes!  Activities available from 10-5 and include books, an obstacle course, games, and more.   
  Kornpop the Clown (June 15 at 1 pm and 3pm )
Kornpop is back with more magic and balloon creations! Please choose one showtime only.
Life Size Games (date to be announced)
We're kicking games up a notch with really BIG games!  Play Hungry Hippos, Kerplunk, Jenga, and more.
Super Secret Program (date to be announced)
We're working on a program that we've done before and can't wait to do again.  Once the we've ironed all the wrinkles out, we'll let YOU in on the secret!
Swimming Party (TBA)
Cool off at Dellwood Pool during the library's swimming party for registered Summer Fun participants.

A valid MPPL card is your ticket to Summer Fun, and is required to participate in Summer Fun Reading Clubs.The card must be presented each time a child checks out  books or other materials,  redeems a time card, enters a prize drawing, attends a program, or uses a computer.  Valid cards have current information (address/phone) and are free of fees and fines.
Options are available for kids and families who live outside of Titus County and would like to participate.

In-county residents may apply for a FREE card.
If the original card is lost,  a replacement card/key tag set may be purchased for $5. Replacement cards have no expiration date and may be used year round. 
As an alternative, a temporary card may be purchased for $2, and expires at the end of the program.
Anyone living outside of Titus County may choose to purchase an Out-of-County card for $20. 
OC cards are valid for one year and include borrowing privileges, program participation, etc. for the person to whom the card is issued. 
 Visitor Pass Any child or adult who does not have a card may attend a single program, other than the Reading Club or Swimming Party, by purchasing a visitor pass for $2.
TexShare Cards TexShare cards are not accepted for Summer Fun programs. Each child participating in Summer Programs must have an out-of-county card in his/her own name, or purchase a visitor pass to attend each program.
