Suppression
The department provides fire suppression services to some 600 commercial
buildings and 1400 residences in the City of Mount Pleasant. The
department is also the primary provider of services in Titus County
which includes two (2) coal-fired electric power plants, Northeast
Texas Community College, a sulphur processing plant and two county
school districts.
Public Fire Education/Prevention
The department has a puppet show that is performed annually for
approximately 2100 children in grades K-4. We provide public fire
education material from the National Fire Safety Council to all
the city and county schools.
HAZ-MAT Response
The department provides an "Technician" level of response
to a hazardous materials incident.
Dive Team
The department has a dive team that provides dive rescue/recovery
on the many recreational lakes located in Titus County.
Rescue
The department provides vehicle extrication, confined space and
high angle rescue for the entire county. EMS is provided by Titus
County Emergency Medical Service based in Titus Regional Medical
Center.
Fire Inspections/Pre-Plans
The department conducts fire inspections and pre-planning for the
approximately 600 public buildings in the city. Shift personnel
trained in inspections and pre-planning perform the task. The information
gathered is entered into the inspection and pre-fire planning programs
in the computer.
Fire/Arson Investigations
The Mount Pleasant Fire Department is responsible for fire investigations
in the city and county. The Mount Pleasant Police Department and Titus County Sherrif Office also aid
in the investigations.
EMS First Responders
The Mount Pleasant Fire Department responds to EMS incidents involving
life treating emergencies in the southern portion of the city, generally
the area south of east and west 1st street.
