Career
Currently the department is filling all full-time positions by promoting
part-time employees.
Part-time
Application
An application for employment may be downloaded from our on-line
forms or obtained from the Texas Workforce Commission. Completed
applications must be returned to the Texas Workforce Commission
for processing at 1902 W. Ferguson Road, Mount Pleasant, Texas 75455.
Minimum Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certified or certifiable by the Texas Commission
on Fire Protection
- Good driving record. No more than two moving violations
or one at-fault accident in the last three years
Essential Job Functions
- Perform any and all fire fighting tasks
- Perform all types of rescue operations
- Conduct Fire Code building inspections
- Conduct community wide educational and awareness
programs
- Maintain equipment, buildings and grounds
- Complete annual training requirements

Volunteer
Application
An application for employment may be downloaded from our on-line
forms or obtained by contacting the Mount Pleasant Fire Department
at (903) 575-4144 or P. O. Box 328, Mount Pleasant, Texas 75456-0328.
Completed applications must be returned to the Mount Pleasant Fire
Department for processing.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Good driving record. No more than two moving violations
or one at-fault accident in the last three years.
- Must pass a criminal history investigation.
- Must reside in Titus County and/or within thirty
(30) minutes of the fire station.
- Meet with investigation committee for interview.
- Appear in person at a regularly scheduled meeting.
- Must pass a physical exam and drug screen.
- Physical performance assessment will be required
for those wanting to be a structural firefighter.
Essential Job Functions
Volunteer firefighters can serve in many capacities
in the Department other than fighting fires. They can be support
personnel who drive apparatus, serve as accountability officer,
fight only grass fires. We have a place for anyone who wants to
volunteer.
Uniforms
T-shirts and/or sweat shirts and coveralls are provided
to all volunteer firefighters and PBI/Gore-Tex Bunker gear is furnished
to all structural firefighters.
Compensation
All volunteer firefighters will receive a minimum
of $10.00 for each incident to which they respond. A volunteer firefighter
will receive more per run based on their training level as outlined
below:
- Accredited Basic State Fireman & Fire Marshal's
Assn. or equal - $13.00
- Accredited Intermediate State Fireman & Fire
Marshal's Assn. or equal - $17.00
- Accredited Advanced State Fireman & Fire Marshal's
Assn. or equal - $22.00
- Master State Fireman & Fire Marshal's Assn.
or equal - $28.00
- Rescue Diver - $1.00 more per run
- EMT - $1.00 more per run
