are located at 402 North Washington Avenue, a.k.a. the Old Fire
Station.
Can you do anything about the trashy conditions on the
property next to me?
If
the property has high weeds and grass (above 12 inches), trash or
rubbish, tree trimmings, or items stored outside such as appliances,
tires, auto parts, metal, etc., an officer may notify the owner
or occupants that these conditions are in violation of the health
and sanitation ordinance.
Can I put up garage sale signs?
Only
one (1) sign shall be allowed for each garage sale. If a sign is
used, it must be placed on the property where the garage sale is
located. No garage sale sign shall be attached to any utility poles,
trash receptacles or in the city rights-of-way.

neighborhood?

Do I have to obtain a health department permit to sell
food?
Yes.
Anyone wishing to operate a food service establishment or sell any
food products to the public within the city limits of Mount Pleasant
must obtain a permit before conducting such business. See on-line

How much does a health department permit cost?
Health
department permit fees range from $25.00-$75.00, based on type of
establishment. See on-line forms.
Do I need a health card to work in a food service business?
Yes.
Anyone working in a food service establishment must have a current
health card before employment. Health cards are issued based on
the submission of medical information for a fee of $2.00. Health
cards must be renewed annually.

Can you enforce having trash/garbage cleaned up from property?
Yes.
It is the duty of any owner, occupant or agent in charge of any
real property in the municipality to keep the area from his/her
property line to the curb line or street pavement, free and clear
of trash/garbage.
