The animal control and protection department serves
to protect both the citizens and animals of our community by ensuring
that animal owners are responsible. Irresponsible animal owners
and the increasing number of unwanted dogs and cats create problems
in our community, such as:
- Injury to both people and animals
- Spread of diseases such as rabies
- Damage to property
- Public nuisances such as noisy animals, animal
wastes, animals in trash, or unsanitary conditions
The animal control and protection department works
to reduce these problems through the enforcement of animal control
ordinances, ensuring animals are treated humanely and emphasizing
public education that will result in increased levels of health,
safety, and well being.
