Mike Ahrens joined the City of Mount Pleasant in January 2009. Before coming to Mount Pleasant, Mike was employed with the City of Atlanta where he served as City Manager for nine years. During his career he has also held positions as Assistant City Manager and Chief of Police for Atlanta, Chief of Campus Police for South Plains College, Levelland, Texas and police officer in Hereford, Texas.

Mike holds an Associate of Applied Science in Law Enforcement from South Plains College, a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences in Administrative Leadership from Texas A & M Texarkana and is a Graduate of the Bill Blackwood Law Enforcement Institute.

Involved in the community he serves, Mike's community involvement and memberships include Mount Pleasant Lions Club, Texas City Manager Association, East Texas City Management Association and Texas Police Association. In the past he was also active in Atlanta Lions Club where he was Past President, Past Vice President Atlanta Dixie Baseball/Softball Association, and Past President of the Atlanta Soccer Association.

Mike has one son, age 21, who is employed by the City of Plano as a Police Officer. Along with his nationally published writing, his other hobbies include reading and sports.
