The new Mount Pleasant Library opened in March of 2012 to accomodate a growing area population.

Located at 601 North Madison, across from the Police Department, the library offers something for every age. To the right of the spacious lobby is a large Program Room. Restrooms are located in the lobby. Also in the lobby is one of the many reading nooks that can be found throughout the facility.

Upon entering the library center, the Historical Museum is located on the right, while the Circulation Desk is located to the left. The Circulation Desk is staffed with three librarians who answer questions, help locate books, and check materials in and out.

Located behind the Circulation Desk is a bank of 20 computers for adult use. These computers can be used free of charge for a 45 minute period once each day.

At the back of the library is the Family History and Genealogy Section. It is filled with material on Titus County and local families. Also, microfilm from the Mount Pleasant newspaper is available along with a microfilm reader.

Next to the Geneology Section are two Study Rooms available for small study groups on a first-come, first-served basis.

To the right of the Adult Computer Bank are non-fiction and fiction books in both English and Spanish. Magazines in Spanish can also be found in that area.

A large collection of magazines is available just to the right and in front of the Circulation Desk. These are available for checkout. Newspapers are available to be read at a spacious table.

Behind the magazine collection, you'll find the Children's Area where eight computers are available for children through age 12 to use once daily for 30 minutes. Tables and chairs are located for children to sit and read or do craft projects. Several bean bag "comfy" chairs are located to invite children to sit and enjoy time reading. The Children's Librarian does storytime year round on Tuesdays at 11:00 a.m. Both Easy books and Juvenile books in fiction and non-fiction are located in this area. Books are available in both English and Spanish. Children's magazines are also located close to a reading nook.

One other large room occupies space in that area and it belong to the Teenage Group. Teenagers will find Young Adult books, Manga, and six computers for their use only. An inviting reading nook and table and chairs also occupy this room.

Finally, the library has an outside "room". The garden is located in front of and to the left of the Teen Center. A bubbling fountain, umbrella-covered chairs and peaceful surroundings make this an ideal place to read.
