Mount Pleasant City Manager Ed Thatcher announced today that he has appointed Assistant Police Chief Kyle Holcomb as Interim Police Chief beginning February 27. Holcomb will serve in this position while the City conducts a national search to fill the vacancy left upon the resignation of Police Chief Wayne Isbell.
“I have full confidence in Chief Holcomb’s leadership of the department during this time of change,” said Thatcher. “He has a long history with the City of Mount Pleasant and proven expertise in law enforcement. We are grateful for his service to our community in this important role.”
Holcomb joined the Mount Pleasant Police Department in 2006 as an Officer and rose through the ranks to become a Sergeant in 2008 and a Lieutenant in 2012. He was appointed Assistant Chief of Police in 2013. Holcomb’s experience includes all aspects of law enforcement from dispatching and jail operations to instructor and commander.
Chief Wayne Isbell announced his resignation on February 12. His last day with the Mount Pleasant Police Department will be February 26.
“While we are sorry to see Chief Isbell leave our City, we are happy for him as he takes this next step in his career. We wish him only the best and continued success with the University of Texas at Arlington Police Department.”
