The Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Section of the Mount Pleasant Police Department consists of officers who are specially trained to perform high-risk operations. SWAT’s primary function is addressing special threat situations including serving high-risk search and arrest warrants, barricaded suspects, hostage rescue, and engaging heavily-armed criminals.
The Mount Pleasant Police Department’s Special Weapons And Tactics Team provides a ready response to situations that are beyond the capabilities of normally equipped and trained Department personnel. Since its inception, MPPD SWAT Team members have affected the safe rescue of many individuals and arrested scores of violent suspects.
