MP FIRE DEPARTMENT

Chief McRae has been in the Fire Service for 49 years and has served as the Fire Chief for the Mt. Pleasant Fire Department since 1984. He also serves as the Emergency Management Coordinator for the City of Mt. Pleasant.

Chief Larry McRae

Chief McRae is qualified as a Type III Incident Commander and has been deployed on numerous hurricanes including Hurricane Ike and is the Team Leader for the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) Region 1 All Hazard Incident Management Team.

He is a TIFMAS Strike Team Leader and has been deployed to many incidents with a Type 6 Engine Strike Team, including the Possum Kingdom Complex and the Bear Creek Fires during the 2011 fire season.

Chief McRae has served as the academy coordinator for the Northeast Texas Community College Fire Academy since 2003.

He serves on the Texas Fire Chiefs Executive Board as the Northeast Region Director and is a member of the Texas A&M Forest Service Rural Fire Advisory Council.

Chief McRae is certified as a firefighter, investigator, inspector and instructor by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection.
